2010 Information

Some of the many fun fair activities are especially created for KIDS!!!  This includes contests, entertainment, and animals! 

LIL’ WRANGLER SHOWS FOR KINDERGARDEN, 1ST & 2ND GRADERS

They must borrow animals which are already on the fairgrounds (and have been vet checked) from 4-Her’s or open class exhibitors.  No judging will occur, just participation.  Registration approximately 30 min. prior to the show will be required, including a signed parental/guardian consent and waiver of liability.  A nominal fee of $3 will be charged.

Rabbits: Wednesday, July 14 at 8:30 a.m., preceding the 4-H Rabbit Show in the Livestock Pavilion
Poultry: Friday, July 9 at 8:30 a.m., preceding the 4-H Chicken Showmanship in the Livestock Pavilion
Swine: Tuesday, July 13 at 1 p.m., preceding the 4-H Gilt Show in the Livestock Pavilion
Sheep: Wednesday, July 14, at 3 p.m., preceding the 4-H Sheep Show in the Livestock Pavilion
Beef, Dairy Beef & Starter Calf:  Thursday, July 14 at 2:00 p.m., preceding the 4-H Starter Calf Show
Horses: Friday, July 16, 6:30 p.m. at the Horse & Pony Arena
Goats: Saturday, July 10 at 12:30 p.m., preceding the 4-H Goat Show in the Livestock Pavilion

1:00 p.m.  4-H Pavilion—Check-in 12:30 p.m., $5.00 fee

RULES:
1. All contestants must be residents of Bartholomew County.
2. All entrants must be pre-registered by midnight, Thursday, July 8, 2010.
3. $5.00 fee—cash, check or money order made payable to the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair is due with the registration form.  No late entries will be accepted.
4. Can register at the Fair Office or send in entry form from Fairbook.
5. Placement of age group will be based on contestant’s age on July 11, 2010. Girl and boy classes will alternate.
6. Contestants will be judged on originality of outfit, cuteness and personality.
7. An honor group will be selected in each class and prizes awarded to the Queen or King, 1st and 2nd runner-up.
8. All participants must abide by the guidelines set up by the Fair Board Committee.

LITTLE MISS & MISTER CONTEST
Sunday, July 11, 2010    $5 Entry Fee must accompany registration form by July 8, 2010
Interview—1:00 p.m. at Southside Elementary                     Public Contest—7:00 p.m.—4-H Pavilion

1. Each contestant must be at least 5 years of age and can NOT have reached his or her 8th birthday before September 1, 2010.
2. Each contestant will be judged separately. 
3. The contestant must be an Indiana resident and must reside in Bartholomew County.
4. Any contestant who has performed or competed on the professional level (for monetary gain) in anything other than amateur contests will be considered ineligible for this contest.  Also, no previous winners eligible.
5. At the interview, each contestant will receive a t-shirt to be worn with khaki/tan shorts to the Public Contest.
6. Each contestant will have a 2-minute interview with the judges.  Interview and rehearsal times will be scheduled following registration.
7. Judging will be divided into two divisions:

  Division 1—Interview 1:00 p.m.—Southside Elementary
 Based on conduct, personality, attentiveness and response to questions

 Division 2—Public Contest 7:00 p.m.—4-H Pavilion at Fairgrounds
 Based on poise, personality, and overall presentation

Every day the Little Hands on the Farm Exhibit opens at 5pm.  The Children’s Baking Contest registration starts at 5pm on Thursday, July 15.

BABY PERSONALITY CONTEST

SATURDAY, June 26, 2010 Family Arts Building, $5 Entry Fee
Rules:
1. All contestants must be residents of Bartholomew County.
2. All contestants need to pre-register by June 22, 2010. Entry fee of $5.00, cash, check or money order made payable to the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair must be paid day of contest.
3. Class placement and judging times are as follows:

9:00 a.m. Class 1: 10-13 months boys/girls
9:00 a.m. Class 2: 14-18 months boys/girls
10:30 a.m. Class 3: 3-6 months boys/girls
10:30 a.m. Class 4: 7-9 months boys/girls
12:00 p.m. Class 5: 19-24 months boys/girls
12:00 p.m. Class 6: Twins, triplets & more

Please note the times are different for the various classes. Please come 15 minutes early to pick up your baby’s number.

4. Boys and girls in each class will be judged separately. There will be an honor group, a runner-up, and a winner selected for a Boy and Girl in each class.
5. Remember this is a personality contest, not a fashion show.
